The National Center for Health Statistics reports approximately 71.6% of adults over age 20 are overweight or obese. Studies show that approximately 40%–50% of adults are taking multiple drugs and have multiple chronic illnesses. Managing these types of patients and prevention of medical emergencies is more important than ever. This course is targeted toward dental health providers who endeavor to provide safe and comfortable dental experiences for patients who have chronic and/or uncontrolled illnesses such as cardiac disease, kidney disease, terminal illnesses and infectious diseases.
