The purpose of this course is to introduce all the possible options and techniques for constructing bleaching trays. Participants in the workshop will construct two different custom bleaching trays on properly trimmed casts using vacuum formers. Sample casts will be provided for all course participants to use and retain for patient demonstration examples of the tray. Other tray options, such as boil-and-form (thermoplastic) and disposable trays will be presented using videos for use with bleaching children’s teeth. Indications for tray application of materials for use in sensitivity treatment and caries control will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Select the appropriate bleaching technique, material and tray design for various patients.
Fabricate two different custom trays for the tray bleaching technique to be used as patient demonstrations.
Observe the techniques for boil-and-form and disposable trays, which are used with teenagers and children.
Discuss the use of bleaching trays for caries control in elderly patients and orthodontic patients and for sensitivity treatment in hygiene patients.
